The Baby Safe Skin Awards
Tried, Tested, and Trusted Products for Sensitive Baby Skin
As a mom with a baby with sensitive skin, I’ve tried dozens of low-tox products. So many of the most effective products I’ve tried have either been petroleum based or harsh steroidal prescription creams. Though it has been tempting to stick to those rather than see my baby struggle with dry, itchy skin, I’ve been determined to find a sustainable solution that soothes her skin without harmful or addictive additives. I’ve tried dozens of low-tox products and here are the ones that actually work .
🧷 For Diaper Rash: Buddle Skincare
For pretty much ever, diaper rash has been viewed as a fact to live with, rather than a problem to solve. But Buddle set out to change that. Their two-step system designed to both prevent and heal diaper rash. The formulas use gentle, clean ingredients that calm irritation while strengthening the skin barrier over time. Instead of trapping moisture, it helps restore balance.
Why I love it:
Addresses the root cause, not just symptoms
Clean, thoughtfully chosen ingredients
Their foam cleanser is a great, multi-purpose cleanser that can be used for hands, counter tops, and more
🧴 For Everyday Moisturizer: Tubby Todd All Over Ointment
This is one of those rare products that actually earns its cult-favorite status. Tubby Todd’s All Over Ointment is a simple, effective, multi-use moisturizer that works beautifully on dry patches, irritated skin, and early eczema flare-ups.
It is fragrance-free and made with colloidal oats, which are clinically shown to soothe inflammation and strengthen the skin barrier. For those with oat sensitivities, they also offer an oat-free version.
Why it won:
Gentle enough for daily, head-to-toe use
Helps prevent eczema flare-ups
One product that replaces several
🛁 For Daily Soothing: Colloidal Oats
Speaking of colloidal oats, they really are the best, natural treatment for dry, itchy skin. I pour these in the bath daily and it has worked wonders. Good for the whole family and leaves your skin feeling so smooth! I like Yareli because they use only pure, organic oats with just 1 ingredient.
Why I love it:
One ingredient, zero fillers
Good for the whole family
Simple, affordable and very effective
🧼 For Bath Time: Mustela Gentle Cleansing Hair & Body Wash
All of Mustela’s products are great, but I especially love this cleanser. It is gentle enough for newborns, effective enough to actually clean, and is dual body and hair.
The formula uses natural avocado and vitamin B5 to support the skin barrier, and Mustela is a certified B Corp, which aligns with our values around sustainability and responsible manufacturing.
Why it won:
Clean, baby-safe ingredient list
Non-drying and tear-free
A brand with strong ethical standards
☀️ For Sunscreen: Centella Sunscreen Stick
For sunscreen, hands down my favorite is this Centella Sunscreen Stick. Korean skincare is just superior in so many ways, but especially when it comes to sunscreen as their formulations are safer and more effective than most US brands. I also love that this glides on completely sheer and is extra moisturizing. This is one for the whole family too!
Why I love it:
Glides on completely sheer
Soothing and hydrating
Safe and effective for the whole family
